Can you tell us a bit about your work in THIS IS issue 1? In this issue, I wrote a poem about my home and how my relationship and perspective to it has changed and grown as I have gotten older. London always seemed like this big amazing place when I was little, but now, especially with events like Grenfell Tower, I've started to doubt how amazing it really is.
What kind of things do you try to address in the work you make? Social issues are my main focus, where it be racism, sexism, mental health, politics etc. Whatever is going on at the time and the observations I'm making.
Who is one of your least favourite artists/authors or piece of work? I'm not about negativity! Honestly, most of the stuff I read has managed to surprise me. I think you can always get a little knowledge from everything. I'm sure a lot of people think my poems are straight trash but I think I'm alright! I do think the Virgin Suicides is mad overrated though.
Which piece of writing inspires the work that you like to make? As I'm at university, I'm reading all the time but mostly not stuff I'd personally choose. There isn't much time for it. What inspires me is the people I meet, my friends, and seeing such strong and beautiful people face hardship with bravery and hope.
Your go-to Karaoke song? Probs Adele or a ballad from a musical. I'm secretly a bit of a belter.
Is courgette a fruit or a vegetable? Wtf a fruit?? How is that even possible? It's obviously a vegetable, fuck outta here!!
